The Skinny on the MINIMUM Protection You Need

The Skinny on the MINIMUM Protection You Need

The world is changing—in fact, it’s kinda turned upside down in the past few months.  And, in case you missed it, cases of COVID-19 are not the only thing experiencing exponential growth. Cybercrime have risen dramatically during this pandemic. Our entire industry is scrambling to keep up with the multitude and magnitude of attacks. New tools must be created to fight new threats. But sometimes we don’t need a new tool, we just need better implantation of an old tool.

Enter Multi-Factor Authentication. Your new love-hate relationship. MFA is an extra login step (in addition to a password), often requiring the use of a smartphone. Previously this was called 2FA or Two-Factor Authentication.

  • So, you DO actually buckle up every time you get into a vehicle? In fact, you think it would be crazy not to do so?
  • Then why DON’Tyou turn on MFA every time you logon to a platform holding sensitive data?

Please, please, we beg you: DO THIS NOW. Stop procrastinating. Yes, it’s a bit of a hassle, but only a bit. The security it provides is worth every mite of hassle it causes. Accessing your email, bank information, line-of-business software, or even your Facebook account without Multi-Factor Authentication is like driving 65 miles an hour without a seatbelt. Do not do it.

Hot Tip: DON’T use texting for MFA. Get an authenticator app.

If you have Microsoft 365 for email, you will need the Microsoft Authenticator App.

Another great option is Authy. If you need help, go here:  authy.com/guides
